With the increase in yard size, Dominion Trading are actively pursuing the purchase of steel scrap.  Scrap steel is now a more valuable commodity than it has been in the past, and it is available in bulk.

Development into the steel market has required strong investment in plant, and Dominion Trading operates a variety of trucks with specific service abilities including hiab and crane trucks complete with scales for on-the-spot weighing of bins, plus a skip truck for steel collection around Christchurch and its environs.  With a certified in-ground weighbridge located at the front of the scrap yard, accurate weighing can be guaranteed.  On-site the scrap is handled and processed with grapples and shears attached to a variety of excavators.  Light grade steel is pressed into briquettes, whilst heavy outsize steel is either sheared or gas-cut into smaller pieces ready for on-selling.
