Dominion Trading actively seeks to reduce industry impact on our beautiful country in two ways.  Firstly, the very nature of the business achieves this.  Not only do we specialize in the recovery and recycling of non-ferrous metals such as copper, aluminium, brass, stainless steel and lead, but we are also recognized as New Zealand's leading national collection agency for used automotive batteries for recycling.  This battery collection service was launched in 1958.

Secondly, we only use scrap metal processing methods which ensure maximum recovery not only of the metals but also, in the case of electrical cables, the plastic covering.  At N Z Copper Granulating, there are two main methods employed in separating the plastic from the wire.  Both methods utilized are approved under the Resource Management Act and are either via a series of cable strippers or via a Redoma copper granulating machine.  This results in top quality copper and the separated plastic granules are then on-sold for re-melting and re-using.
